Clear as a bell (2016)

HD Vide, 7 minutes 30 seconds (looped)

Clear as a bell, shot in the National Railway Museum in York, UK, follows a group if older men as they navigate the levers and signals of a model railway system. Designed to educate trainees in block signalling, this form of communication is soon to be rendered obsolete by digital technology. Focusing on subtle nods and watchful gestures the film evokes a wordless choreography, where close-ups of levers and chains allude to the intimate understanding existing between signalmen.
